Dell and Equinix Partner on Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure
Dell Technologies has partnered with data center provider Equinix to launch a new hybrid cloud infrastructure solution. The collaboration integrates Dell’s storage and compute platforms directly within Equinix data centers, aiming to provide enterprises with low-latency access to major cloud providers while maintaining control over their data.

The partnership places Dell’s PowerStore and PowerFlex infrastructure inside Equinix’s global data centers. According to the announcement, this integration creates a private cloud platform that connects directly to hyperscale clouds like AWS and Azure. The goal is to establish “cloud adjacency,” where enterprise data is physically located next to public cloud resources to improve performance and reduce data transfer costs.

Within this model, Dell’s PowerStore platform functions as a secure, low-latency data hub. It is designed to keep critical data close to the cloud without incurring egress penalties. Complementing this, Dell PowerFlex provides a software-defined architecture that unifies compute and storage resources, allowing for flexible scaling.

The joint solution leverages Equinix Fabric for direct, private interconnection to public cloud services. This allows organizations to treat the colocation facility as a complete private cloud platform, enabling rapid workload mobility and scaling. By combining Dell’s intelligent storage with Equinix’s cloud-connected data centers, the partnership aims to deliver a platform that offers both high performance and operational agility. Specific financial terms or performance metrics of the partnership were not disclosed.

According to Dell, the strategy behind the partnership is to unlock “true hybrid freedom” for enterprises. The company states that placing enterprise compute and data adjacent to the cloud simplifies data complexity and helps accelerate AI-driven outcomes. The solution addresses common hybrid IT challenges such as latency, data sovereignty, and unpredictable cloud egress costs by creating a more integrated and predictable environment.

The initial announcement did not specify a timeline for availability across Equinix’s global data center portfolio. Details regarding the pricing model for the integrated solution, specific performance benchmarks, and which geographic regions will be prioritized for the rollout remain undisclosed.

For enterprise customers, this partnership offers a new deployment model for managing hybrid and multicloud environments. Organizations can utilize the solution to scale their infrastructure without large upfront capital expenditures on data center hardware. The integration is expected to allow businesses to connect their private data workloads with public cloud compute resources more efficiently and securely.
