SquareX Snags SINET16 Award for AI-Powered Browser Shield
SquareX, a cybersecurity firm specializing in browser detection and response, just snagged the coveted SINET16 Innovator Award for 2025. This award isn’t just a pat on the back; it’s a validation of SquareX’s unique approach to securing the “new endpoint“—the browser itself. The SINET16 Innovator Award, a prestigious accolade in the cybersecurity world, recognizes companies developing cutting-edge solutions to combat ever-evolving threats. This year’s competition was fierce, with 193 applicants from 19 countries vying for the honor. A panel of 112 cybersecurity heavyweights, including CISOs, risk executives, and experts from government intelligence and defense agencies, ultimately selected SquareX.

SquareX’s winning formula? A browser extension that transforms any standard browser into a fortified platform, offering enterprise-level protection against a wide array of web-based attacks. Their Browser Detection and Response solution is engineered to detect, mitigate, and investigate client-side attacks, including malicious browser extensions, rogue AI agents, and identity-targeted phishing schemes.

Beyond threat detection, SquareX also addresses the growing concern of browser data loss. This includes data loss related to generative AI interactions, potential insider threats, and sophisticated data exfiltration attempts. It’s a comprehensive approach designed to plug the security gaps that traditional endpoint detection and response (EDR) and secure access service edge (SASE/SSE) solutions often miss.

The Enterprise Browser Alternative

SquareX also offers an enterprise browser capability that allows employees to securely access internal applications, including thick client applications, from their regular consumer browsers. This eliminates the need to deploy separate, dedicated enterprise browser software, streamlining workflows and reducing IT overhead.

“It is a great honor to be named a SINET16 Innovator… As the new endpoint, the browser has not only become the most common initial access vector for attacks and data exfiltration, but also the primary platform through which users are interacting with AI,” said Vivek Ramachandran, Founder and CEO of SquareX.

Ramachandran emphasizes that traditional security solutions lack the necessary visibility into this complex platform. SquareX distinguishes itself through rigorous research, having reportedly discovered over a dozen zero-day architectural vulnerabilities in browsers this year alone. This proactive approach is crucial in staying ahead of emerging threats.

The SINET organization, which runs the SINET16 Innovator Awards, aims to foster collaboration within the cybersecurity community. Robert Rodriguez, Chairman of SINET and Venture Partner at SYN Ventures, underscores the importance of raising awareness about new technologies that can improve cybersecurity. He noted that the SINET16 application process provided a platform for companies to showcase their innovations to leading CISOs, risk executives, and venture capitalists.

SquareX’s technology offers a non-disruptive way for businesses to enhance their security posture. By focusing on the browser as a critical control point, SquareX is helping organizations adapt to the evolving threat landscape, where AI-powered attacks and data breaches are becoming increasingly sophisticated. As cybersecurity challenges continue to shift, solutions like SquareX are poised to play a vital role in protecting businesses and individuals alike.
