Fujitsu Snags Microsoft Japan AI and SAP Partner Awards

Fujitsu has solidified its position as a leader in AI and cloud solutions by winning two coveted Microsoft Japan Partner of the Year Awards. This double recognition, celebrating excellence in both AI Innovation and SAP migration, emphasizes Fujitsu’s dedication to fostering digital transformation for clients in Japan and worldwide. While Fujitsu has been recognized for seven consecutive years, this is their first AI-specific award, highlighting a strategic shift and increased investment in artificial intelligence.

Presented by Microsoft Japan, these awards acknowledge partners who consistently build customer trust through groundbreaking deployments of Microsoft technologies. This recognition validates Fujitsu’s Uvance business model, which is designed to tackle societal challenges through technological prowess.

Fujitsu’s AI Innovation Award stems from its collaboration with Headwaters Co., Ltd., on a generative AI prototype for Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL). This solution promises to allow cabin crew to effortlessly create reports mid-flight simply by interacting with a tablet. The solution is powered by Microsoft’s Azure AI Foundry and Headwaters’ Phi, a small language model (SLM).

This award recognizes Fujitsu’s ability to drive innovation for major clients across diverse sectors, leveraging its deep understanding of Microsoft solutions and extensive experience in managing mission-critical systems. The company’s expertise extends to SAP on Multi-Cloud Services.

Hidenori Ito, SVP, Head of Cross Industry Solution Business Unit at Fujitsu Limited, emphasized the strategic importance of the AI Innovation Award. “This AI Innovation Award marks our first honor in the AI field from Microsoft, and we consider it the result of our dedicated department’s ongoing commitment to developing AI technology,” he stated. He further added, “Data and AI technologies will continue to play a central role in accelerating value creation for businesses and society. We will further accelerate our collaboration with Microsoft, leveraging its advanced AI technologies and cloud infrastructure.”

Takashi Kiryu, SVP, Head of Cloud & Business Application Unit, Fujitsu Limited, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the significance of the Migrate SAP Award. “Leveraging our strong collaboration with Microsoft, we will continue to support the transformation of our customers and society,” he affirmed.

Satoshi Asano, Managing Executive Officer, Enterprise Services Group and Partner Group, Microsoft Japan Co., Ltd., congratulated Fujitsu, noting their contribution to customer transformation through “long-standing technical expertise and cutting-edge technologies.”

Fujitsu’s cloud solution initiatives continue to be highly regarded. Building on a five-year strategic global partnership established with Microsoft Corporation in 2023, both companies are increasing product development and business expansion within the AI domain. Fujitsu is also investing heavily in AI talent development, with intensive training programs underway for approximately 28,000 employees across Japan, Europe, Asia, and America.

These awards represent a tangible validation of Fujitsu’s strategic direction and its commitment to leveraging AI and cloud technologies to solve real-world problems. As Fujitsu continues to deepen its partnership with Microsoft and expand its Uvance offerings, expect to see even more innovative solutions emerge, driving societal progress and solidifying its position as a global technology leader.
