The Midnight Foundation announced that Google Cloud and global payments firm MoneyGram will operate nodes for Midnight, a new data protection blockchain. They join a consortium of “federated node operators” including eToro and Vodafone’s Pairpoint venture, set to secure the network’s mainnet launch scheduled for the end of .

On , the Midnight Foundation revealed an expanded list of partners who will manage the network’s initial infrastructure. According to the announcement, Google Cloud, MoneyGram, eToro, and Pairpoint will join initial partners Blockdaemon, Shielded Technologies, and AlphaTON. These organizations will act as federated operators during the network’s initial “Kūkolu” launch phase, collectively running the protocol under explicit rules to ensure stability and reliability.

Midnight is a privacy-focused blockchain, developed as a partner chain to Cardano, that uses zero-knowledge proofs to enable what it calls “selective disclosure.” The technology is designed not for total anonymity but for programmable privacy, allowing businesses to prove facts required for compliance—such as completing anti-money laundering checks—without exposing sensitive underlying customer or transaction data on a public ledger. This approach targets regulated industries like finance and healthcare that require data confidentiality.

The consortium of high-profile operators is intended to provide institutional-grade security for the network’s debut. Fahmi Syed, President of the Midnight Foundation, stated that bringing these entities on-chain demonstrates where the industry is heading. For MoneyGram, the move aligns with its existing strategy. Working with Midnight and running blockchain nodes fits naturally into this strategy, allowing us to help ensure that privacy, compliance and reliability are built in from day one, said Luke Tuttle, MoneyGram’s Chief Product and Technology Officer.

The Midnight mainnet is expected to go live by the end of , secured by the newly announced federated operators. The Midnight Foundation has indicated that more partners may be announced in the coming weeks. Following the initial launch phase, the network plans a gradual transition toward broader, community-driven decentralization as outlined in its roadmap.
