The LG UltraGear Evo 27-inch GM9 (27GM950B) is designed to minimize halo effects, commonly known as blooming, in high-resolution MiniLED displays. This is achieved through its 2,304 local dimming zones and Zero Optical Distance engineering, which reduces the gap between the panel and the LED backlight. The monitor also incorporates on-device AI features, including 5K AI Upscaling, AI Scene Optimization, and AI Sound, which enhance image and audio in real-time without requiring GPU upgrades. For performance, the GM9 supports a Dual Mode operation, allowing users to switch between 165Hz at 5K resolution or 330Hz at QHD. It also features a 1ms (GtG) response time, VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certification, and a peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits.
LG states that the new UltraGear evo lineup expands the boundaries of high-resolution gaming by combining ultra-high definition, speed, and immersion across various form factors. The introduction of on-device AI solutions, including the world’s first 5K AI Upscaling technology, aims to deliver 5K-class clarity without necessitating GPU upgrades, allowing gamers to experience a wider range of content in high definition. The company’s focus on MiniLED technology for the 27-inch GM9 specifically addresses challenges like blooming, aiming to provide professional-grade 5K precision with exceptional optical clarity.
