EA FC 26 1.4.0 Update Nerfs AI Defending & Tweaks Gameplay
EA Sports is rolling out a major 1.4.0 update for EA Sports FC 26 (FC 26), aimed at improving attacking play and smarter AI behavior. This patch responds directly to community feedback, with the primary focus on refining AI defending and enhancing the overall gameplay flow.Key gameplay changes:

  • AI Defending: Reduced reaction times of AI defenders when marking the ball carrier, creating more open space during transitions and promoting fluid attacking play.
  • CPU AI / Squad Battles: AI teammates now push the ball forward more aggressively, creating chances faster rather than focusing on possession-heavy gameplay.
  • Acceleration Types: Corrected “Lengthy” Acceleration Types; minimum height now 185 cm for male players, 165 cm for female players.
  • Physical Play & Goal-Line Clearances: Strength and Aggression attributes have greater impact on shielding. Defenders now perform automatic goal-line clearances in unreactive situations.

Ultimate Team updates:

  • Fixed UI issues, radial menu glitches, and trophy display anomalies.
  • Resolved item highlight problems after previewing Evolution consumables.

Career Mode improvements:

  • Expanded Player Status information and improved job security logic for managers.
  • Adjusted Player Career options, starting attributes, and contract durations for ICONs and Heroes.
  • Resolved various UI and camera-related issues across Player and Manager Careers.

Clubs & General Fixes:

  • Corrected Acceleration Types and visual inconsistencies in Team Management screens.
  • Addressed various audio, commentary, graphics, and stability issues across all platforms.
