If no direct integration exists, Claude controls your screen. It opens files, navigates browsers, types into forms, and clicks menus. The key safeguard: Claude asks permission before accessing new applications for the first time. Users can also halt the process at any point if something looks wrong.
The feature integrates with Dispatch, Anthropic’s task-assignment tool. This combination lets you delegate work from your phone and return to finished output on your desktop. You can also set recurring tasks that Claude handles automatically on a schedule.
Safety Guardrails Keep Pace
Making auto mode default doesn’t mean removing oversight. Anthropic added new safety features alongside this change:
- Prompt injection screening to prevent attackers from hijacking Claude’s actions
- Customizable hard deny rules to block specific actions entirely
- Measures designed to prevent data leaks and unauthorized operations
The combination of automated action-catching plus these guardrails is the bet Anthropic is making: automation catches more problems than humans do, and additional safety layers handle edge cases.
