Two New Home Hubs Point to a Bigger Smart Home Push
The update points to two new Home Hub models, J490 and J491, with Siri setup capabilities. J490 is believed to be a base version, while J491 is designed for wall mounting. These have previously been identified as Apple’s next home hub products.
A new HomePod mini, codenamed B525, is also mentioned, running “Argentium” software. This likely corresponds to the HomePod mini 2. An unreleased accessory, J229, first spotted in iOS 26, is noted for its multiple sensors and image capture abilities, possibly a rumored security camera.
AirPods With a Camera Get Closer to Reality
The code reveals a “B790” codename for AirPods with a camera, distinct from a separate 2027 project. It specifically mentions an “image stream for the device,” indicating active development. Upcoming Beats headphones are referenced as B518 and B522.
There are also hints of fourth-generation AirPods Pro, identified as AirPodsPro1,4. This would succeed the current AirPods Pro 3. Another codename, AirPod3,5, also surfaced in the same code.
Multiple iPhones Line Up for 2027
Several iPhone models appear throughout the code:
- V62, the iPhone Air 2, expected in spring 2027
- V63, the iPhone 18 Pro, anticipated for September
- V64, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, also anticipated for September
- V68, a foldable iPhone Ultra, anticipated for September
- V67, the standard iPhone 18, expected in spring 2027
These timelines come from Macworld’s interpretation of iOS 27 code found within the release.
Mac Lineup Shows Signs of an OLED Shift
For Macs, the entry-level 14 inch MacBook Pro (J804) is expected with an M6 chip this year. New iMac models (J833 and J834) are also in development. Further MacBook Pro codenames, K114c, K114s, K116c, and K116s, suggest higher-end OLED models are somewhere in the pipeline as well.
iPad Mini, a Headset, and a New Remote
The next-generation iPad mini, codenamed J510 and J511, is rumored to receive an OLED display and an A19 Pro chip. A headset, N109, is mentioned, which Bloomberg previously linked to a second-generation Vision Pro. The code also points to a new Apple TV remote, ATVRemote1,5.
Apple Intelligence Navigates China’s Rules
The update includes references to “Writing Tools” for China, part of the Apple Intelligence suite. These tools mention temporary restrictions due to “triggering safety alerts,” which require content safety updates before they can roll out fully. It’s a small detail, but it shows Apple is still working through regulatory complexities for its AI features in the region.
The first wave is expected this September, with the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra. Apple often hosts multiple fall events, so a second event in October or November for the new MacBook Pro, iMac, iPad mini, and home accessories wouldn’t be surprising.
