Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Dummy Unit Surfaces for Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra’s design has now surfaced as a physical dummy unit, and it points to a redesigned rear camera island with one fewer lens than the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. The model was built from previously leaked CAD renders, giving the first tangible look at the upcoming flagship.

The CAD-based renders first emerged in August. The same source has now turned those files into a dummy unit and photographed it next to the S26 Ultra, the Apple iPhone 18 Pro, and the Google Pixel 11 Pro. The unit has no display or battery, so it shows the exterior and nothing else.

The CAD files put the S27 Ultra at 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97 mm, a small step up from the S26 Ultra’s 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9 mm. The front camera cutout is centered, and the rear camera island has been re-engineered. The new array carries one less lens than the S26 Ultra, a change that invites comparison with the iPhone 18 Pro. The reduction reportedly frees up space for magnets, which could support MagSafe-style accessories, and the updated island may also cut down on wobble when the phone sits on a flat surface.

Same size, different island, no case compatibility

The overall dimensions are close, but the new camera island means Galaxy S26 Ultra cases will not fit the S27 Ultra. The rest of the layout looks familiar:

  • The power button and volume rocker stay on the right-side frame
  • The bottom edge holds the USB-C port, SIM card slot, primary microphone, speaker, and S-Pen slot

The side-by-side images with the iPhone 18 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro show how Samsung’s choices differ from its closest rivals, though the dummy says nothing about how any of them perform.

What the dummy cannot show

Weight, display quality, and internal specifications are all still unconfirmed. The larger open question is what camera improvements will come with the reduced lens count.

Hashlytics Take

A lens traded for magnet room says a lot about where Samsung thinks the Ultra is headed. If the report holds, the accessory ecosystem is now weighty enough to shape the camera hardware itself, and case makers have an early signal that S26 Ultra designs will not carry over. The caveat is the source: a dummy built from leaked CAD is only as reliable as the files behind it, so treat the island layout as likely rather than final until Samsung shows its own.
