Samsung Delays Galaxy S26 One UI 9 Update Globally

The rollout officially began in South Korea on September 16, with Samsung Thailand’s newsroom channel signaling a broader international push shortly after. That channel has since revised its schedule, pushing the Galaxy S26 global release to September 28, a full week later than originally indicated.

Older Flagships Now Share the Same Release Window

The delay creates an unexpected overlap in Samsung’s software roadmap. September 28 was already the designated rollout date for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung is now positioned to push One UI 9 across two separate flagship generations at the same time.

Before any global release for the S25 and Z series models, Samsung will likely begin the update in South Korea first, expected sometime this week assuming firmware verification proceeds without issues.

Notably absent from the revised schedule are the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy S23 FE, originally slated for an October update, has now been pushed to later this year with no specific date attached.

Where the Delay Actually Came From

The revised timeline traces back to a Samsung Thailand newsroom post that was quietly edited after initially confirming the September 21 date. Samsung’s Global Newsroom never explicitly committed to that date in the first place, which makes this look more like a regional communication slip than an official global announcement being walked back.

Still, a week long gap between a domestic Korean release and international availability is unusual for Samsung. Analysts point to possible bugs or performance issues surfacing in the initial build as a likely explanation, with engineers pausing wider distribution to stabilize the software before a broader push. Samsung has not formally acknowledged any global delay or explained the reason behind it.

Until international rollout resumes, South Korean users remain the only ones running the stable release of One UI 9 on Android 17.
