Ubisoft Unveils Rainbow Six Tactics Turn-Based Game
Ubisoft officially unveiled Rainbow Six Tactics during gamescom’s Opening Night Live, reimagining the franchise as a turn-based, single-player experience. The game will arrive on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC.

Players will command a Rainbow unit, leading a squad of up to four Operators through high-stakes missions. It’s a tactical shift that moves the series away from its traditional first-person shooter roots and into turn-based strategy territory.

Planning Replaces Reflexes

Before deploying into the field, players prepare their squad from HQ, with missions built around careful planning and coordinated breaches. Creative Director Elie Benhamou says the core Rainbow Six DNA remains intact, including intel gathering, strategic decision-making, and elite Operators doing what they do best.

The roster pulls 15 Operators directly from Rainbow Six Siege, each bringing unique abilities, specialized gadgets, and distinct skill trees into the mix. Benhamou confirmed these Operators keep their signature gear and abilities, so the squad synergies fans already know will carry over into this new format.

Destruction Still Drives the Action

Rainbow Six Tactics keeps the franchise’s destructible environments front and center. Players can break walls, create new sightlines, and take out enemy cover mid-mission.

The standout new mechanic is “The Breach,” a synchronized assault that lets all active Operators move at once, breaking from the standard turn-based rhythm for moments of coordinated, all-at-once tactical execution.

Players can wishlist Rainbow Six Tactics now on the Xbox Store ahead of its release on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
