What’s Fixed in This Patch
The 1.06/1.006 update addresses several gameplay elements across both PlayStation versions:
- Mid-match lobby backfilling now works more reliably
- Input delay reduced for displays with 120Hz or higher refresh rates
- Zombies matches now prioritize PlayStation 5 hosts instead of falling back to PS4
- Smoke grenade visual effects corrected
- Players can now toggle visibility of other players’ custom emblems in multiplayer settings (emblems remain visible by default)
The Modded Lobby Problem Persists
Despite these improvements, the critical issue remains unresolved. Hackers continue exploiting modded lobbies that max out player Prestige levels and lock accounts, rendering them unusable. This current hack has been plaguing the game for weeks, affecting a significant portion of the active player base.
Iron Galaxy acknowledged the severity in a statement: “We are also investigating solutions for instances where accounts have been set to incorrect Prestige levels.” The language signals ongoing work, but no fix is live yet. For players who’ve already been affected, there’s no recovery path currently available.
Black Ops 1 Gets Similar Treatment
The original Black Ops also recently received an update, version 1.05, which mirrored many of the same fixes: reduced input latency for 120Hz+ screens, PS5 host prioritization for Zombies, and the custom emblem toggle. Some emblem-related issues in Black Ops 1 remain under investigation.
Both Black Ops titles have sold over seven million copies combined, making them significant titles in Activision’s legacy lineup. The continued patching shows commitment to the player base, but the gap between these incremental fixes and the account-bricking crisis reveals a disconnect in development priorities.
The community is waiting for a server-side fix or another major update to finally address the modded lobby vulnerability. Until that happens, players remain at risk of losing access to their accounts entirely, which undercuts the value of any other improvements the patches deliver.
