Crimson Desert Patch 1.16: 10 Key Gameplay Changes Arrive
Crimson Desert, the upcoming action RPG from Pearl Abyss, just rolled out Patch 1.16. The update fundamentally reworks the game’s trading system, altering the economy for players on PC, PS5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. Here are the changes that matter most.

Trading Infrastructure Expands Dramatically

Pearl Abyss added 133 new trading posts across Pywel, addressing the scarcity players reported in earlier builds. Many will unlock through quests or story progression, encouraging exploration beyond familiar areas like Hernand. Pailune, a prominent city, now has its own dedicated trading post, creating a much denser network for commerce across the map.

The Economy Just Got More Rewarding

Overall profit from trading has increased significantly. Royal Trading Posts now offer quadruple the trade good prices they did previously. The developers also adjusted the types and quantities of available goods to prevent price-fixing. Sell too much at one location and prices fluctuate. More distant locations now offer higher profits, pushing players to undertake cross-region trading runs instead of staying in one spot.

Navigation Tools Make Trading Accessible

A new Trade tab on the World Map displays all trading posts, including royal ones and wagon workshops. Players can check market prices in advance and filter for desired goods before committing to a run. Wagon routes now appear directly on the minimap, eliminating the guesswork from delivering goods like Packaged Jades. The “buy low, sell high” strategy is now genuinely doable for new traders.

New Goods and Inventory Improvements

Patch 1.16 introduces 24 new high-value trade goods plus four new regular types, diversifying the market for veteran traders. Inventory changes make trading feel less cramped:

  • Trade goods now stack up to 10 or 100 when packing, depending on price tier
  • Inventory slots for picked-up trade goods increased, stacking up to 5 or 50 per slot
  • Players can now sell individual trade goods instead of full stacks
  • Goods can be shifted directly between wagons and horses

Performance Gets a Technical Boost

On the technical side, Patch 1.16 updates AMD FSR SDK to 2.3.0 on PC. FSR 4.1 is now supported on Radeon RX 7000 Series GPUs, enhancing image quality and performance. Ray regeneration updates reduce flickering on window frames and other boundaries. An issue causing distant objects to disappear in certain areas has also been fixed.

Quality of Life Fixes Round Out the Update

The patch addresses multiple smaller issues that improve the overall experience:

  • Explosives now stack up to ten and can be assigned to quick slots
  • Visual effects that obscured enemy weaknesses are corrected
  • Memory fragment locations now appear correctly with Blinding Flash active
  • Silver acquisition from Copper Pouches for Abyss Gear is now functioning properly
  • Fallen Abyss circuit deactivation should now work as intended

What’s Next for Crimson Desert

Pearl Abyss has more in the pipeline for Crimson Desert, including story improvements and what the developer is teasing as potential DLC. Patch 1.16 signals the studio is listening to player feedback about the trading system specifically, which bodes well for future balance updates.
