CNCF Adds 9 New Members to Scale AI Infrastructure

These additions reinforce how far the cloud native ecosystem has spread. CNCF now counts nearly 800 members and over 300,000 contributors, working across more than 250 projects in 190 countries. The new cohort spans telecommunications, AI infrastructure, cloud hosting, and sovereign infrastructure, a mix that reflects where AI workloads are actually heading next.

From Training to Production Inference

Organizations are shifting AI workloads from training environments into production inference, and that shift is creating real demand for operational efficiency and resource optimization. Jonathan Bryce, CNCF executive director, pointed directly at this challenge.

The challenge is about getting more from the infrastructure organizations already have rather than adding more compute, Bryce said. Open source communities are building the orchestration and observability layers needed to squeeze more value out of existing resources rather than simply buying more hardware.

• SoftBank Corp., a telecommunications leader aiming to activate AI across its businesses while expanding its AI computing infrastructure
• Crusoe, an AI factory company whose Crusoe Cloud offers GPU-powered managed inference and infrastructure-as-a-service with intelligent orchestration
• Ascendra Networks, which claims up to 5x higher compute efficiency for existing capacity
• CodeVisionary, a performance efficiency platform built to eliminate computational waste and cut cloud costs at the source
• Infino AI, an open source retrieval engine that runs fast queries across a billion documents at a tenth of the usual cost
• Legora, a new Silver End User Member building collaborative AI for legal work on Kubernetes and the broader CNCF ecosystem

What Silver Membership Actually Includes

The new members bring expertise across the stack, from telecom-scale deployment to specialized retrieval and orchestration tools, strengthening the community’s push to make production AI infrastructure more efficient and accessible.

CNCF Silver Members receive benefits valued at over $300,000, including training, event discounts, and legal resources. The foundation continues hosting critical components of global technology infrastructure, including Kubernetes, Prometheus, and Envoy, the projects most of the industry already runs on without necessarily thinking about it.
