According to Mauro Macchi, CEO for EMEA at Accenture, European organizations face mounting pressure to accelerate AI adoption while maintaining sovereignty over critical systems and sensitive data. Macchi said. This centre helps organisations determine, on a per-use-case basis, the level of control required over data, models and infrastructure.

Europe is lagging behind the US in the AI arms race, according to Accenture research, yet regulatory frameworks like the AI Act impose stricter compliance requirements on organizations deploying generative AI. Brady stated. The facility enables government agencies and enterprises in healthcare, finance, and defense to experiment with AI capabilities without exposing proprietary models or data to cloud infrastructure outside their jurisdiction.

Beyond innovation testing, the Brussels center functions as a training hub for professionals within the Accenture Google Business Group, a joint practice the two organizations established. Accenture and Google Cloud have collaborated globally and across specific national markets, including Belgium, for several years. This center formalizes that partnership into a physical location where employees from both firms and partner organizations work directly with client teams on AI governance and implementation strategies.
