Which Phones Are Getting Left Behind
Not every Nothing device is making the jump. The original Nothing Phone (1), the Nothing Phone (2), and the first generation CMF Phone 1 will not receive Android 17 at all, having reached end of life for major OS upgrades.
Two other models sit in a strange middle ground. The Phone (3a) Lite and the CMF Phone 2 Pro are confirmed for the stable general release, but they’re skipping the Open Beta phase entirely.
The Rollout Schedule
Nothing is deploying this in phases, with availability likely varying by region. The Open Beta will expand through the fall, stable releases begin in mid October, and the full rollout stretches into early 2027.

How to Join the Beta
If your device is eligible and its beta window has opened, enrollment takes just a few steps:
- Make sure your phone is running the latest available stable build
- Download and install the
Nothing Beta Hub V2.0 APK - Open Settings, go to System, then select Nothing Beta Hub
- Tap Check Version, then Join Beta once verification completes
- Tap Go to Update to download the beta firmware
If the Go to Update button doesn’t appear automatically, head to Settings > System > System updates to start the download manually.
Back Up Before You Install
As with any beta software, expect occasional bugs, incomplete features, and the odd unexpected crash. Backing up your personal data beforehand is worth the few extra minutes, both to protect against loss and to make reverting to a stable build painless if things go sideways. The stable general release for the Nothing Phone (3) is projected for mid October.
