Samsung Ends Support for 2 Galaxy Phone Apps by 2026
Samsung will discontinue its AR Doodle and Quick Measure apps for Galaxy phones. The company says the apps will return in the future with improvements, though no timeline has been given. Both services are set to expire by December 31, 2026.

AR Doodle let users digitally draw on real-world scenes through their phone’s camera, while Quick Measure enabled real-world measurements using the device. Android Authority spotted Samsung’s announcement through the Galaxy Store.

The Notice Already Missing From Some Devices

Both apps are already missing for users running the latest One UI versions. For those who still see them in the Galaxy Store, a Notice of Service Termination appears, confirming the December 31, 2026 end date.

Samsung’s One UI operating system will no longer support these apps going forward. Users won’t be able to download or update either app after the deadline, though existing installations may still work, with Samsung warning that some features may not function properly.

The Quick Measure notice specifically flagged a lack of compatibility support in future OS updates. Some newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, reportedly already lack support for these apps entirely.

Most Users Didn’t Notice They Existed

Samsung once promoted both apps heavily as showcases for its AR capabilities. Reaction on Reddit suggests that promotion didn’t stick. Many users expressed surprise at the news, with a fair number unaware the apps existed in the first place.

Those who had used Quick Measure often compared it unfavorably to Apple’s native Measure app. Still, some longtime users expressed genuine disappointment over losing the tools, even if usage was limited.

What Comes After AR Doodle and Quick Measure

The discontinuation raises questions about where Samsung’s AR ambitions go from here. The company is reportedly developing AI-powered smart glasses for a late 2026 release, and it’s unclear whether that project absorbs the lessons, or the teams, behind these two apps.

For now, Samsung has offered no specifics on what the promised return of AR Doodle and Quick Measure will actually look like, or whether either app makes it back at all.
