UAE Bolsters Quantum Security with ATRC Partnership
The United Arab Emirates is making a significant leap in national cybersecurity, moving proactively to establish quantum-safe defenses against future threats. This strategic initiative aims to protect critical digital infrastructure from the imminent challenge posed by quantum computing, alongside addressing current global cyber risks.

UAE Forges National Quantum-Safe Security Framework

The UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC) recently formalized an agreement with the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) and its affiliated entities during the “Make it in the Emirates” event. This collaboration is set to fast-track the UAE’s transition to quantum-safe security, bolstering national resilience against sophisticated cyber threats. The contract, solidified between VentureOne, ATRC’s commercial arm, and the CSC, focuses on deploying and scaling advanced cybersecurity solutions.

Addressing the Quantum Threat Amid Heightened Cyber Risks

The expanded partnership arrives during a period of elevated global and regional cyber risk, compounded by the long-term challenge of quantum computing. H.E. Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwai, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, emphasized, Preparing for the impact of quantum computing is a national priority. Strengthening our cryptographic foundations today ensures the long-term security of our digital infrastructure. This proactive stance underscores the nation’s commitment to securing its digital future.

Advanced Solutions Spearhead Post-Quantum Migration

Central to this initiative are innovative technologies developed within the ATRC ecosystem. The deployment includes cryptographic libraries from the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), QuantumGate’s Crypto Discovery Tool (CDT), and the Entanglement-based Quantum Key Distribution (EQKD) solution, commercialized by VentureOne. Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII and QuantumGate, stated, CDT provides a data-driven view of cryptographic readiness and exposure across complex environments and enables organizations to migrate with confidence.

The Crypto Discovery Tool, developed in Abu Dhabi, will be scaled by the CSC and QuantumGate to support cryptographic inventory management and vulnerability assessments. Additionally, following a successful pilot, the CSC will deploy VentureOne’s EQKD, which uses quantum entanglement to generate highly secure encryption keys. This technology has already been used to connect data centers at a major Abu Dhabi entity and is slated for broader deployment across government and enterprise environments, contributing to the nation’s overall cyber security.

UAE Prepares for the Quantum Era with Comprehensive Strategy

The initiative extends beyond technology deployment to include national readiness programs, workforce training, and public awareness campaigns. These efforts are designed to help organizations prepare for a coordinated transition to quantum-safe security, aligning with international post-quantum standards established by bodies like NIST. The TII’s Security Laboratory, a key facility for cryptographic compliance testing, will also play a crucial role in validating cryptographic assets against national regulatory requirements. H.E. Shahab Issa Abu Shahab, Director General of ATRC, highlighted that this collaboration accelerates the deployment of sovereign cybersecurity technologies, supporting the UAE’s long-term transition to quantum-resilient security.
