The update package runs roughly 450MB for the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, with international variants receiving firmware version S92xBXXSHDZI1, according to tipster Tarun Vats. The Galaxy S24 FE gets a slightly smaller update at 438.23MB, running firmware version S721BXXSEDZI1, as noted by Alfaturk16 on X. Users can check for the update manually through their phone’s settings.
Samsung Is Already Shipping October’s Patch Elsewhere
Samsung has already begun deploying the October 2026 security patch to other devices, with reports indicating the Galaxy S26 series is among the first to receive it. That creates an unusual timeline for S24 owners, who are effectively a patch cycle behind while still waiting on their major software upgrade.
It raises a real question worth watching: could Samsung end up bundling the October security patch together with the stable One UI 9 release when it finally arrives for the S24 series?
For now, Galaxy S24 owners should install the current update as a baseline security step. The larger One UI 9.0 upgrade, based on Android 17, still has no official release date.
