This initiative comes as concerns grow over the ethical implications of advanced AI, particularly with the pursuit of artificial general intelligence (AGI), where AI could potentially replicate human-like thought processes. The companies aim to train their models to understand right from wrong, a capability currently beyond AI’s inherent abilities.

The engagement began with a significant roundtable event, laying the groundwork for ongoing dialogue regarding AI ethics.

1. Convene the Inaugural “Faith-AI Covenant” Roundtable: Key executives from Anthropic and OpenAI met with religious leaders in New York. This inaugural roundtable, organized by the Geneva-based Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities, focused on how religious leaders can help shape the future morals of AI models.
